Knorhoek, the time-honoured Stellenbosch estate recognised for its repertoire of roaring Cabernets and elegant whites has released the latest vintages in the popular Two Cubs range of playful, easy drinking wines.
Purring with pleasure, the Two Cubs trio comprises the fruit- forward Rosé 2010, the frisky White Blend 2010 and the hearty Red Blend 2008, all inspiring wines for everyday enjoyment with the integrity synonymous with Knorhoek Estate.
“At Knorhoek we are passionate about all our wines, we therefore put as much effort and care into making our easy-drinking range as with our finest award-winning wines. The name of our Two Cubs range gives the perfect impression of what to expect from within. Playful wines with great gusto,” shares Arno Albertyn who is now in his fifth year as winemaker at this unsung Winelands jewel in a corner of the majestic Simonsberg where lions once roamed.
The Two Cubs Rosé 2010 is a merry mélange of Pinotage (56%), Cabernet Franc (27%), Merlot (13%) and a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon. This lighthearted blush with its candy floss hue shows great balance between fruit and acidity, with delicious berry notes on the nose.
It is the perfect pre-dinner sip or icebreaker at weddings and celebrations. This rosé, which should keep well for the next three years, complements light meats, green salads and seafood sensations.
Two Cubs Red Blend 2008, a hearty Cape style blend of (38 %) Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon (31%), Cabernet Franc (18%), Pinotage (12%) and Viognier (1%), entices with ripe black berry and black currant notes infused with vanilla and mocha traces culminating in a smooth, velvet finish. Smoky hints unique to the classic Cabernet Sauvignon character unfold whilst succulent, sweet Merlot flavours add silky softness to a lingering aftertaste.
This red blend will stand its ground at any braai or try it with your favourite meat bredie or potjiekos. The Two Cubs Red Blend 2008 has great ageing potential of up to six years.
A sun-kissed melody of Chenin blanc (54%) and Sauvignon blanc (46%), Two Cubs White Blend 2010 titillates the palate with a tropical fruit salad of guava, grapefruit and pineapple whilst a hint of wild honey evokes a silky richness on the aftertaste.
Fruit-forward and frisky, this lively white blend goes exceptionally well with salads, white meats, seafood and pasta dishes. It is also simply divine on its own next to the pool.
All of these great value Two Cubs wines come with a pleasing price tag with the Rosé 2010 selling from R33.95; the Red Blend 2008 from R38.95, and the White Blend 2010 from R33.95 per bottle. The Two Cubs wine range is available directly from the estate or at leading wine outlets nationwide.
